It was a good run, but the Brownfield Cubs unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Denver City 42-37. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Brownfield of the 43-37 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Brownfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lucy Guzman, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amery Pauda, who scored five points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Brownfield's defeat dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Denver City, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season.
Brownfield will be playing at home against Dimmitt at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Dimmitt is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Denver City, they will head out on the road to challenge Littlefield at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Littlefield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Denver City in Texas (Littlefield is ranked 238th, while Denver City is ranked 691st).
