The Riverside Prep Silver Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Big Bear Bears at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Riverside Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past University Prep 25-1 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Silver Knights in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won eight in a row.
Thomas Salazar led a balanced Silver Knights bullpen and tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Salazar is becoming a predictor of Riverside Prep's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Victor Herrera and Ethyn Beltran did most of the damage at the plate: Herrera went 4-for-6 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Beltran got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Beltran a new career-high. Kaleb Roberts also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Riverside Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as University Prep struck out 16 times.
Meanwhile, Big Bear hadn't done well against Hesperia Christian recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bears sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 victory over the Patriots. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bears considering their two-run performance the contest before.
The team relied heavily on Kobe Alvarez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Chase Wilson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Riverside Prep's record now sits at 13-7. As for Big Bear, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Riverside Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. However, it's not like Big Bear struggles in that department as they've averaged .433. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Riverside Prep's way against Big Bear when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Riverside Prep made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Silver Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
