The St. Monica Mariners are taking a road trip to challenge the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Monica will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
St. Monica came out on top against Hawthorne on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Mariners took their contest against the Cougars 10-6.
Milena Valdez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Garcia, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
St. Monica was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .425. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .326 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Wiseburn- Da Vinci's offense. They lost 10-0 to Palos Verdes on Friday. The Wolves have struggled against the Sea Kings recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Wiseburn- Da Vinci saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine Veal, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
St. Monica's record now sits at 11-6. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, their loss dropped their record down to 7-18.
Wiseburn- Da Vinci's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Monica has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given St. Monica's sizable advantage in that area, the Wolves will need to find a way to close that gap.
St. Monica couldn't quite finish off Wiseburn- Da Vinci in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 7-5. Can the Mariners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
