Even though the Mountain Pointe Pride scored an imposing 57 points on Wednesday, the Thunderbird Titans still came out on top. Thunderbird strolled past Mountain Pointe with points to spare, taking the game 71-57.
It was another big night for Paris Strozier jr, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds. Those 29 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Clark, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Thunderbird has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Mountain Pointe, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Thunderbird won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Central at 1:00 p.m. on December 28th. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Thunderbird likes a good challenge. Mountain Pointe will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Horizon is ranked 211th, while Mountain Pointe is ranked 194th).
