The Patchogue-Medford Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the William Floyd Colonials at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Patchogue-Medford kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They were the victim of a rough 59-38 loss at the hands of Walt Whitman.
Meanwhile, William Floyd had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came out on top against Walt Whitman by a score of 45-38. The score was all tied up 17-17 at the break, but William Floyd was the better team in the second half.
William Floyd's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shy Hawkins, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kayla Gilmore, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Patchogue-Medford's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for William Floyd, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
Patchogue-Medford didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against William Floyd when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 38-33 win.
