We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. St. Luke's Episcopal is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
St. Luke's Episcopal had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt LeFlore on Wednesday. St. Luke's Episcopal never let LeFlore get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Nathan Deaton was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Deaton was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, St. Luke's Episcopal let Campbell Tillman and Cooper Frampton run wild. Tillman scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Frampton went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, Frampton posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Menhennett, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
St. Luke's Episcopal kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Millry's offense. They fell just short of Cottage Hill Christian Academy by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since April 13, 2024.
St. Luke's Episcopal's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs over those games. As for Millry, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
St. Luke's Episcopal came out on top in a nail-biter against Millry in their previous meeting on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Luke's Episcopal since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
