Given Wesley Chapel's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Land O' Lakes is ranked 355th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Wesley Chapel to victory were Trey Murray and Sian Morris. Murray scored 19 points along with three steals, while Morris scored 19 points along with six assists and two steals. Murray is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Javin Harrison, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Loss or not, Land O' Lakes got some senior leadership from Jordan Massie who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and Max Moore who scored 15 points. That was a full 33.9% of Land O' Lakes' points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Noah Mathan was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds.
Wesley Chapel pushed their record up to 12-3 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.58 points. As for Land O' Lakes, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
Wesley Chapel won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against P.K. Yonge at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jantzen Griffin and Murray. As for Land O' Lakes, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mitchell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
