4A District 5 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Cocoa Beach extended the longest winning streak in 4A District 5 this week by beating Fernandina Beach, 31-21. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Cocoa Beach moved up to 162 from 228 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Tony Piccalo's team was able to make the jump by beating the Pirates 31-21.
Cocoa's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jaelon Knowles threw for 75 yards and Rakeem Murray had 56 yards receiving. On the ground Lorrenzo Pratt chipped in 173 yards. Tarean Folston helped Cocoa's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
Cocoa's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Knowles has thrown for 164 yards this season, while Murray has two catches for 56 yards. Folston leads the league in rushing with 253 yards.
The Tigers suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 28-0 loss to the Tigers. Cocoa had been ranked 21st, but fell to 29 following the defeat.
