The Flowery Branch Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Heritage Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Flowery Branch is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Heritage in Georgia (Flowery Branch is ranked 107th, while Heritage is ranked 244th).
Flowery Branch started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Loganville. They fell to the Red Devils 32-28. Flowery Branch has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Flowery Branch's loss came about despite a quality game from Josh Oliver, who threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Heritage fell victim to Jefferson's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Dragons on the road and fell 42-0. Having soared to a lofty 40 points in the game before, Heritage couldn't push the score so high this time.
Flowery Branch now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Heritage, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Flowery Branch against Heritage in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 46-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Flowery Branch since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
