Trenton is 10-0 against Dixie County since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Trenton Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Dixie County Bears at 6:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Trenton sitting on six straight wins and Dixie County on nine.
Last Tuesday, Trenton was able to grind out a solid victory over Oak Hall, taking the game 39-26.
Trenton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nyima Gillyard led the charge by scoring 12 points along with two steals. Gillyard hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Brianna Karanja was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Even though Dixie County has not done well against Lafayette recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Dixie County walked away with a 39-26 win over Lafayette.
Trenton pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Dixie County's record is now 10-4.
Everything came up roses for Trenton against Dixie County when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 56-22 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trenton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
