Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Strathmore walked away with it. They came out on top against the Santa Maria Saints by a score of 77-69 on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on four straight.
Santa Maria's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julius Medina, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Medina's big performance that evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnathan Lupercio, who posted 19 points.
Strathmore's victory bumped their record up to 20-11. As for Santa Maria, their loss dropped their record down to 22-9.
Looking ahead, Strathmore will face off against Granite Hills at 12:00 p.m. on March 1st. Strathmore has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Santa Maria does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
