Basketball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central lost against Bay City Western back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Central Wolves fell 56-49 to the Bay City Western Warriors. The Wolves' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Loss or not, Central got some senior leadership from Terrill Campbell and Dontrell Mcclendon. Campbell dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Mcclendon posted 16 points. Those 11 boards set a new season-high mark for Campbell. Kevin Davis was another key player, putting up six points.

Even though they lost, Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Bay City Western, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will take on Traverse City Central in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bay City Western, they will head out to square off against Mt. Pleasant at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bay City Western is facing Mt. Pleasant at the right time seeing as Mt. Pleasant is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
