The high school Class of 2020 will likely hold a special distinction in history as the one that got caught in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. Winter and spring sports seasons have been impacted or canceled, as have proms and graduations.
In an effort to lift up the athletes experiencing a less-than-ideal end to their high school careers, MaxPreps is recognizing 100 of most promising seniors in the country. This group represents over 20 sports and nearly 30 states.
From team sports to individual ones, this list encompasses the pinnacle of achievement from great seasons — and some that barely got off the ground.
Listed in alphabetical order Braxton Amos, Parkersburg South (Parkersburg, W.Va.), wrestling
Ranked as the No. 1 220-pound wrestler in the nation by Intermat, Amos won the Ironman tournament and a state championship.
Scott Barnes, Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.), boys basketball
A MaxPreps All-American who was a 5-star recruit for the best team in the nation.
Beau Bartlett, Wyoming Seminary College Prep (Kingston, Pa.), wrestling
Ranked No. 1 in the nation by Intermat at 138 pounds, Bartlett helped Wyoming Seminary to a No. 1 national ranking.
Blake Biondi, Hermantown (Minn.), Ice Hockey
Named Minnesota's Mr. Hockey and he was the state's Associated Press Player of the Year. He had 47 goals and 48 assists.
Micah Braswell, Laurel Oaks Tennis Academy (Sarasota, Fla.), boys tennis
Recently signed with Texas, ranked No. 1 in the nation for his age group.
Bryan Bresee, Damascus (Md.), football
The No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2020 by 247Sports was a MaxPreps All-American on the defensive line and had 13 sacks and 29 tackles for loss.
Audrey Boch-Collins, Clark (Las Vegas), girls tennis
Ranked as the No. 2 high school tennis player in the country, Boch-Collins became the first Nevada player to win four singles titles.
Demarkcus Bowman, Lakeland (Fla.), football
The MaxPreps All-American ran for 1,614 yards and 24 touchdowns and will play at Clemson next year.
Paige Bueckers, Hopkins (Minnetonka, Minn.), girls basketball
The MaxPreps National Player of the Year averaged 21.4 points and 9.4 assists.
Kamilla Cardoso, Hamilton Heights Christian (Chattanooga, Tenn.), girls basketball
MaxPreps All-American averaged 17.3 points and 9.8 rebounds while leading her team to a No. 2 national ranking.
Caitlin Clark, Dowling Catholic (West Des Moines, Iowa), girls basketball
Clark averaged 33.4 points per game and was a MaxPreps first team All-American.
Jayda Coleman, The Colony (Texas), softball
A returning MaxPreps All-American, Coleman was batting .771 with 42 runs, 28 RBI, 11 triples and two home runs.
Fiona Crawley, Alamo Heights (San Antonio), girls tennis
A three-time state doubles champion, Crawley is ranked as the No. 1 high school player in the country.
Parker Csiszar, Medina (Ohio), boys soccer
A two-time All-American by United Soccer Association, Csiszar was the Mr. Soccer for Ohio Division 1 this fall.
Cruz Culpepper, Niwot (Colo.), indoor track and field
Ran the third-fastest mile in U.S. history for a 17-year-old and the fastest ever indoor mile for that age group with a time of 4:00.1.
Cade Cunningham, Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.), boys basketball
The MaxPreps National Player of the Year averaged 13.9 points and 6.4 assists for the undefeated Eagles.
Kyle Cusimano, Bay (Bay Village, Ohio), boys soccer
The United Soccer Association National Player of the Year and Mr. Soccer in Ohio, Cusimano had 26 goals and finished his career with 81.
Nadesha Davis, Baker County (Glen St. Mary, Fla.), weightlifting
Davis finished as the No. 2 weightlifter in Florida, but set a state record with a clean and jerk of 275 pounds.
Anna DeBeer, Assumption (Louisville, Ky.), volleyball
A two-time MaxPreps All-American had 1,079 kills in her career.

Greg Diakomihalils, Hilton (N.Y.), wrestling
A five-time state champion, Diakomihalils is ranked No. 1 in the nation at 120 pounds by Intermat.
Avery Donahue, Oak Knoll (Summit, N.J.), field hockey
The national Player of the Year by MAX Hockey, the midfielder helped lead Oak Knoll to its second New Jersey TOC in three seasons.
Zofia Dudek, Pioneer (Ann Arbor, Mich.), cross country
Won the Foot Locker Cross Country race in fifth-fastest time in race history.
Rocky Elam, Staley (Kansas City, Mo.), wrestling
Elam won a state championship in Missouri at 195 pounds and is ranked No. 1 in the nation by Intermat.
Louisa Essuman, Hotchkiss School (Lakeville, Conn.), girls soccer
A three-time All-American by United Soccer Association.
Da'Marcus Fleming, Northwestern (Miami), track and Field
A wide receiver at Northwestern, Fleming also recorded the top 100-meter and 200-meter times in the nation during the shortened outdoor season with marks of 10.33 and 20.75, respectively.
Julian Fleming, Southern Columbia Area (Catawissa, Pa.), football
Ohio State-bound receiver holds the all-time receiving yards and touchdown records in Pennsylvania and had 72 catches for 1,572 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior.
Paige Flickinger, Byron Nelson (Trophy Club, Texas), volleyball
MaxPreps National Player of the Year had 797 kills and 813 digs.
Justin Flowe, Upland (Calif.), football
The nation's top linebacker earned MaxPreps All-American honors and had 123 tackles with 18 tackles for loss.
Carson Foster, Sycamore (Cincinnati), boys swimming
Last year's national Swimmer of the Year by Swimming World, Foster was named to Team USA in September and he has broken age-group records once held by Michael Phelps.
Francesca Frelik, Austin Prep (Reading, Mass.), ice hockey
An All-Scholastics Player of the Year, Frelik helped lead Austin Prep to an unbeaten season.
Aynslie Furbush, Winter Springs (Fla.), softball
A preseason MaxPreps All-American, Furbush was 4-1 with 53 strikeouts and was also batting .370 with two home runs.
Arik Gilbert, Marietta (Ga.), football
The National Gatorade Football Player of the Year caught 105 passes for 1,860 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Avery Goelz, Lakewood Ranch (Bradenton, Fla.), softball
A preseason MaxPreps All-American, Goelz was batting .591 with three home runs and 13 RBI when the season ended.

Jalen Green, Prolific Prep (Napa, Calif.), boys basketball
Green made the surprising decision to play in the G-League next year after earning MaxPreps All-American honors and averaging 31.5 points.
Anna Haddock, Greenwood (Bowling Green, Ky.), girls soccer
A two-time All-American by United Soccer Association, Haddock was the Kentucky Gatorade State Player of the Year as a junior.
Cam Hannah, Marist (Chicago), volleyball
Hannah had 410 kills, 271 assists, 208 digs and 107 blocks in earning MaxPreps All-American honors.
Kyle Harrison, De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), baseball
The top player in Northern California last year, Harrison was off to a strong start this year with a 2-0 record with 18 strikeouts and a 0.78 ERA.
Cole Herbert, Calvert Hall (Baltimore), lacrosse
A standout on the football field and lacrosse field, Herbert is ranked as the No. 2 player in the nation.
Bilal Hersi, Lewiston (Maine), boys soccer
The Gatorade State Player of the Year as a junior, Hersi added 32 goals as a senior and earned All-American honors by the United Soccer Association.
Rachel Heck, St. Agnes Academy (Memphis, Tenn.), girls golf
The top-ranked girls golfer in the Class of 2020, Heck won the state championship for the fourth straight season.
Owen Hiltz, Culver Academies (Culver, Ind.), lacrosse
The No. 3 recruit in the nation, Hiltz helped lead Culver to a No. 1 ranking by Inside Lacrosse when the season came to an end.
Leah Holmes, Hackley (Tarrytown, N.Y.), girls lacrosse
The small schools Player of the Year in New York as a junior, Holmes was a member of the U19 World Championship team last summer.
India Houghton, St. Ignatius (San Francisco), girls tennis
Ranked as the No. 1 age-group player in California, Houghton recently participated in the Australian Open.
Nash Hutmacher, Chamberlain (S.D.), wrestling
A three-sport standout, Hutmacher is a three-time all-state football player, a four-time wrestling state champion with a 166-0 career record and a two-time track and field state champion in the shot put and discus. He is also the No. 1-ranked heavyweight wrestler in the nation by Intermat.
Ja'Quinden Jackson, Duncanville (Texas), football
The dual-threat quarterback was a MaxPreps All-American and had over 1,500 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing for the second straight season.
Paris Johnson, Princeton (Cincinnati), football
The top offensive line recruit in the nation by 247Sports, Johnson was a MaxPreps All-American and will play at Ohio State.
Blaze Jordan, DeSoto Central (Southaven, Miss.), baseball
Jordan was batting .422 with six doubles and five triples when the season ended. He was ranked as the No. 3 recruit by Perfect Game.
Jared Kelley, Refugio (Texas), baseball
The nation's top-ranked pitcher by Perfect Game, Kelley was 3-0 when the season ended. He had not allowed a run nor a hit this season with one complete-game no-hitter.
Kristina Kelly, Camden Hills (Rockport, Maine), girls soccer
The United Soccer Association National Player of the Year finished her career with 159 career goals and four straight state championships.
Patrick Kennedy, Kasson-Mantorville (Kasson, Minn.), wrestling
Kennedy won his fourth state championship this year and is ranked No. 1 in the nation by Intermat at 182 pounds.
Jaron Leasure, Montgomery Bell Academy (Nashville, Tenn.), boys golf
The top-ranked boys golfer in the nation, Leasure won the Tennessee Junior Amateur title last year and shot a 62 to win the state title in the fall.
Charitie Luper, Byron Nelson (Trophy Club, Texas), volleyball
Had 1,321 kills and 1,293 digs and joined teammate Flickinger on the MaxPreps All-American team.
Dylan Maberry, The Woodlands (Texas), volleyball
Posted 729 kills and finished with 2,190 kills in her career while earning MaxPreps All-American honors.
Noah Madrigal, Peoria Notre Dame (Peoria, Ill.), boys soccer
A two-time All-American, Madrigal has earned player of the year honors by the Peoria Journal Star three times.
Delaynie Maple, Torrey Pines (San Diego), volleyball
Maple helped lead Torrey Pines to a MaxPreps No. 1 national ranking while notching 345 kills and 339 digs.
Nicole May, Foothill (Pleasanton, Calif.), softball
The MaxPreps Junior Player of the Year, May was undefeated last year (24-0) and Foothill was off to a 4-0 start.
Lachlan McNeil, Wyoming Seminary College Prep (Kingston, Pa.), wrestling
Originally from Canada, McNeil is ranked No. 1 in the nation by Intermat at 145 pounds after winning the Super 32 and the Walsh Ironman championships.
Kelli McGroarty, Eastern (Voorhees, N.J.), girls soccer
The Gatorade State Player of the Year as a junior, McGroarty is a three-sport standout who also plays basketball and lacrosse.
Kate McLaughlin, New Trier (Winnetka, Ill.), field hockey
Set a new state record with 76 goals, which ranks third most nationally, and led New Trier to a second straight state championship.
Josh Methner, Hersey (Arlington Heights, Ill.), boys cross country
Winner of the Foot Locker Cross Country National Championship, Methner defeated the next closest runner by eight seconds.
Kendall Milton, Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.), football
Ranked as one of the top running back recruits in the country, Milton rushed for 1,514 yards and 23 touchdowns while earning MaxPreps All-American honors.
Marvin Mims, Lone Star (Frisco, Texas), football
Mims set the Texas and UIL state record for receiving yards in a season with 2,629. He also holds the state career receiving record (although not UIL record) with 5,485 yards.
Olivia Mobley, Breck (Minneapolis), ice hockey
Mobley earned Ms. Hockey honors for leading Breck to a third straight state championship. She had 57 goals and 37 assists on the season.
Jess Mruzik, Mercy (Farmington Hills, Mich.), volleyball
Miss Michigan had 415 kills and led her team to a 58-1 record while making the MaxPreps All-American team.
Brennan O'Neill, St. Anthony's (Melville, N.Y.), lacrosse
While St. Anthony's didn't get to start its season, O'Neill is considered the top lacrosse prospect in the nation after earning national Player of the Year honors last year as a junior.
Keegan O'Toole, Arrowhead (Hartland, Wis.), wrestling
A three-time state champion, O'Tolle also won a junior men's national championship prior to his junior year and he is ranked No. 1 in the nation at 160 pounds by Intermat.
Aaliyah Ortiz, Southwest (San Antonio), softball
The preseason All-American selection was batting .604 with 15 doubles and three home runs when her season ended.
Jose Ortiz, Sam Houston (Arlington, Texas), boys soccer
The top soccer player in Texas, Ortiz was the area player of the year by the Fort Worth Telegram and was a USA Today All-American as a junior.
Te-Hina Paopao, La Jolla Country Day (La Jolla, Calif.), girls basketball
In averaging 22.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, Paopao helped La Jolla Country Day to a No. 1 national ranking.
Jill Pressly, Plano West (Plano, Texas), volleyball
The MaxPreps All-American had 602 kills and 409 digs for the Class 6A Texas runner-up team.
Max Rajcic, Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.), baseball
Rajcic was off to a strong start with a 3-0 record, a 0.00 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 22.2 innings pitched.
Bijan Robinson, Salpointe Catholic (Tucson, Ariz.), football
The second all-time leading rusher in Arizona history with 7,036 yards; a MaxPreps All-American.
Elisa Robinson, Junction City (Kan.), girls wrestling
A four-time state champion, Robinson went undefeated this year and was ranked No. 1 in the nation at 190 pounds.
Cameron Rose, Hickory Ridge (Harrisburg, N.C.), indoor track and field
Rose had the top times in the nation for the 200 meters and the 300 meters with times of 20.94 and 32.84, respectively.
Chase Saldate, Gilroy (Calif.), wrestling
Ranked No. 1 in the nation by Intermat at 152 pounds, Saldate won a CIF state championship with five pins and a major decision. He won in the finals with a first-round pin.
Uriel Sanchez, Servite (Anaheim, Calif.), boys soccer
Sanchez was named the Player of the Year by Orange County Register after leading Servite to the Southern Section Division 1 championship.
Isabeau Shalack, Evergreen Park (Ill.), wrestling
Shalack won the Super 32 championship and finished the season ranked No. 1 in the nation at heavyweight.
Morgan Smalls, Panther Creek (Cary, N.C.), Indoor Track and Field
Winner in the triple jump and long jump at the outdoor state track meet last year, Smalls set a state record in the indoor triple jump with a distance of 42 feet, 10 inches — the eighth best all-time nationally.
Isabelle Smith, Westhampton Beach (N.Y.), girls lacrosse
Was a member of the U19 World Championship team along with Caitlyn Wurzburger and Leah Holmes.
Regan Smith, Lakeville North (Lakeville, Minn.), girls swimming
Ranked No. 1 swimming recruit in Class of 2020; holds three world records — 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 400-medley relay.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rockwall (Texas), football
A MaxPreps All-American who caught 108 passes for 2,161 yards and 35 touchdowns.
Eliot Spizzirri, Laurel Springs, boys tennis
Ranked at one time as the No. 1 player in the country, Spizzirri graduated early and is already enrolled at Texas.
Cole Sprout, Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), cross Country
Sprout has been named Gatorade State Athlete of the Year five times — three times in cross country and twice in track and field.
Marlee Starliper, Northern York (Dillsburg, Pa.), cross country
Although she finished second at the Foot Locker Cross Country race, Staliper still had the sixth-fastest time in race history. She is also one of the top 1600-meter runners in the country.
Kristian Story, Lanett (Ala.), football
The Gatorade State Player of the Year set a career total offense record in Alabama with 13,218 career yards, including 9,070 passing, 3,618 yards rushing and 530 receiving.
Jalen Suggs, Minnehaha Academy (Minneapolis), basketball
Named Mr. Basketball in Minnesota and finished his career with 2,945 points and three state championships.
Nicholas Tierney, Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.), water polo
Tierney was named the Southern Section Division 1 Player of the Year.
Katelyn Tuohy, North Rockland (Thiells, N.Y.), girls cross country
The Gatorade National Cross Country runner of the year, Tuohy is a three-time Nike Nationals champion and was ranked as the co-No. 1 ranked cross country runner in the nation by Dye Stat.
DJ Uiagalelei, St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), football
MaxPreps national Co-Player of the Year, the Clemson-bound quarterback threw for 4,255 yards and led team to a No. 1 national ranking.
Luca Urlando, McClatchy (Sacramento, Calif.), boys swimming
Delaying the Olympics to 2021 may have helped Urlando, who dislocated his shoulder in January. He has the top 200 butterfly time of the year and broke an age-group record held by Phelps.
Zac Veen, Spruce Creek (Port Orange, Fla.), baseball
Recently moved up to No. 1 in the Perfect Game player ratings, Veen was batting .452 with three home runs when the season ended.
Jordan Walker, Decatur (Ga.), baseball
The No. 1 recruit by Perfect Game to start the 2020 season, Walker ended the year with four home runs and six doubles.

Alex Walsh, Harpeth Hall (Nashville, Tenn.), girls swimming
Ranked No. 2 swimming recruit in the Class of 2020; set national high school record in the 100 backstroke.
Maurice Westmoreland, Klein Forest (Houston), Track and Field
He has the top discus throw in the nation this spring with a throw of 204-6. He was also first team all-district in football.
Tyler Wilkes, Gaither (Tampa, Fla.), boys golf
Ranked No. 2 in the nation, Gaither shot back-to-back rounds of 67 to win the Florida 3A state championship.
Samantha Williams, JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), girls soccer
Helped lead JSerra to the regional finals, Williams was named the Player of the Year by the Orange County Register.
Slade Wilks, Columbia Academy (Columbia, Miss.), baseball
Among the national home run leaders with six, Wilks was batting .400 and had 50 home runs in his career.
Sarah Willis, Norco (Calif.), softball
A returning MaxPreps All-American, Willis was 4-0 on the season and was batting .421.
Derek Wingo, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), football
Named the Florida Gatorade State Player of the Year and finished with 18 sacks.
Caitlyn Wurzburger, American Heritage (Delray Beach, Fla.), girls lacrosse
The No. 1 recruit in the country, Wurzburger was Inside Lacrosse's National Player of the Year as a sophomore and is a four-time Sun Sentinel All-Area Player of the Year.
Bryce Young, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), football
Headed to Alabama, Young was national Co-Player of the Year by MaxPreps and threw for 4,528 yards and 58 touchdowns.
