Madera is 9-1 against Edison since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Coyotes will face off against the Tigers at 3:31 p.m. Madera is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Madera saw some tournament action last Tuesday. They fell 5-1 to Clovis East. The Coyotes haven't had much luck with the Timberwolves recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Madera saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kearney Opfergelt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Edison, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Sanger West by a score of 9-4 on Wednesday.
Alexis Verduzco made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. Verduzco was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Edison got a massive performance out of Lauren Jones, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Jones a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Neveah Palomero, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Edison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Edison pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Madera, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Madera has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Edison struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Madera's way against Edison in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Madera made off with a 20-5 victory. Do the Coyotes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
