The Coral Gables Cavaliers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 65-58 to Palmetto. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (56), Coral Gables still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Coral Gables still got an impressive performance from Gabriel Chang, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcellis Williams, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Palmetto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joshua Lipson led the charge by scoring 17 points. Marcos Alberich was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Coral Gables has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Palmetto, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-8.
Coral Gables will face off against Dillard at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Dillard will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Coral Gables is ranked 123rd). As for Palmetto, they will be playing at home against Northwestern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
