Football Recap: Braylon Walker Key Part of Team Effort in Knights Win

Lafayette Christian Academy won the last time they faced Carencro and things went their way on Friday too. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-38 victory over the Bears. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Knights' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Bears are ranked 29th).

Lafayette Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylon Walker, who rushed for 146 yards and one score on only 13 carries, and also threw for 119 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Walker's longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Caiden Bellard was another key rusher, rushing for 164 yards and one TD while picking up 8.6 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lafayette Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 310 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Another reason for the win was Lafayette Christian Academy's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Jayden Arceneaux with three.

Lafayette Christian Academy has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two points across that stretch. As for Carencro, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Lafayette Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 45-21 victory against Westgate on the 18th. As for Carencro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 34-20 loss against Zachary on the 19th.
