The Milton-Union Bulldogs will challenge the Anna Rockets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Milton-Union lost 3-0 to Troy Christian on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered against the Eagles since September 2, 2021.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-20, 25-14.
Meanwhile, Anna came up short against Parkway last Monday and fell 3-1. While the Rockets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-20 in the first set.
Anna started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-11, 25-19, 25-20.
Milton-Union will have to keep a close watch on Donna Foster and Layton Barhorst, a pair of players who had a big impact on Anna's prior game. Foster had 12 digs, while Barhorst had six digs.
Anna's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Milton-Union, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Milton-Union has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 11.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Anna struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Milton-Union might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Anna in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
