The D'Evelyn Jaguars had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.7 points), and they went ahead and made it 12 on Saturday. They strolled past Golden with points to spare, taking the game 46-30. Given D'Evelyn's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Golden is ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Peyton Marvel, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. She has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ingrid Dalla, who scored four points along with eight steals.
Golden's loss came despite strong showings from Allie Neal and Presley Kirkpatrick. Neal scored 13 points along with three steals, while Kirkpatrick scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Kirkpatrick hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Bates, who scored four points.
D'Evelyn pushed their record up to 19-2 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Golden, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.
D'Evelyn will look to defend their home court on Monday against Bear Creek at 5:30 p.m. D'Evelyn is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season. As for Golden, they will head out on the road to take on Littleton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Littleton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.
