The Highland Scots''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 46-12 loss at the hands of Bakersfield Christian. Highland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-6.
Although Highland took the loss, they still got scores from Johnny Brucker and Preston Mendez.
Leading Bakersfield Christian to victory were Kolton Thorsen and Talen Mather. Thorsen rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns, while Mather threw for 267 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Thorsen was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Johnson, who picked up 112 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Highland's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.2 points per game. As for Bakersfield Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
