The Ferris Saxons will head out on the road to face off against the Shadle Park Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ferris has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Ferris is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since March 29, 2025 on Thursday. They fell just short of Ridgeline by a score of 19-17.
Holt A Dissmore made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with six RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Finn, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Shadle Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Cheney with a sharp 15-5 win on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Highlanders needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Roy'Al Pierre-Lacy was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Shadle Park's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Carsyn Baldwin, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Shadle Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2025.
Shadle Park's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13. As for Ferris, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.
Shadle Park's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ferris has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Shadle Park, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Ferris' sizable advantage in that area, the Highlanders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Ferris got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Shadle Park by a conclusive 15-5 score. Will the Saxons repeat their success, or do the Highlanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
