Auburn extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They lost 13-3 to the Stadium Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 on Tuesday.
Johnathan Schumaier made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Cornwall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
As for Stadium, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Stadium's side, Finn Wood was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Wood also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Stadium is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-8 otherwise. Wood was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brandt Juergens, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Bennett Nieraeth was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Auburn will head out to take on Kentridge at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Stadium, they are taking a road trip to square off against North Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
