The St. Paul Catholic Falcons will face off against the North Branford Thunderbirds on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Paul Catholic comes in on six and North Branford on 12.
St. Paul Catholic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Hale Ray, who was ranked 17th at the time (St. Paul Catholic was ranked tenth). The Falcons beat the Noises on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 21 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Breyona Demora spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lily McCulloch, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila McCulloch, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, while North Branford put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for St. Bernard. The Thunderbirds narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Saints 2-0. That's two games straight that the Thunderbirds have won by exactly two runs.
St. Bernard's batters probably weren't too happy with Lauren Vitarisi, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up a single walk).
On the hitting side, North Branford saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alia Martone, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles Martone has posted since back in May.
North Branford pushed their record up to 26-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for St. Paul Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 26-3.
Both St. Paul Catholic and North Branford just can't seem to miss. The Falcons have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. However, it's not like North Branford struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Paul Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against North Branford in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunderbirds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
