Basketball Recap: Fairmont Heights' Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Fairmont Heights entered their tilt with Friendly on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Everything went their way against the Friendly Patriots as they made off with a 71-45 victory. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Patriots are ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fairmont Heights to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amari Brice-Johnson, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. Brice-Johnson has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 13 times he's played. Jaden Austin was another key player, going 6 of 9 en route to 16 points.

Brice-Johnson wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Fairmont Heights was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Friendly only racked up eight assists.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeremiah Roach, who posted six points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Justin Harvey, who earned six points.

Fairmont Heights is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Friendly, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

Fairmont Heights will venture away from home to challenge Crossland at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Fairmont Heights' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. As for Friendly, they will be playing at home against Gwynn Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
