Baseball Recap: Redbank Valley Wins Going Away Against North Clarion

In Monday's Canine Competition, Redbank Valley prevailed. Everything went their way against the North Clarion Wolves on Monday as they made off with a 21-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won seven in a row.

Hayden Rearick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Redbank Valley got a massive performance out of Jordan Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Smith has become a key player for the Bulldogs: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Braylon Wagner was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Redbank Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .652. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Redbank Valley pushed their record up to 8-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for North Clarion, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Redbank Valley has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Keystone on the 30th. As for North Clarion, they will host Clarion-Limestone at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
