Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Dunlap

Dunlap made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Normal West, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Wildcats on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Dunlap let Christian Ferrari and Owen Shissler run wild. Ferrari scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Shissler scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, Shissler posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Davis Weeks was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Dunlap, bringing their record up to 9-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Normal West, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Coming up, Dunlap will head out to challenge Limestone at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Normal West, they will host Champaign Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
