The Cypress Bay Lightning will take on the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Cypress Bay is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Cypress Bay took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Nova, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Cypress Bay sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Nova on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lightning have posted since March 11, 2024.

Gabe Gener spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Cypress Bay is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on John Escobar, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Parilli, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Archbishop Carroll). They put the hurt on Coral Park with a sharp 16-5 victory on Friday. Considering the Bulldogs have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
STEVEN NUNEZ looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, JONATHAN DIAZ was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of GUSTAVO ULPINO, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Archbishop Carroll hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive games.
The win got Archbishop Carroll back to even at 5-5-1. As for Cypress Bay, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cypress Bay has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Archbishop Carroll struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
