Eagle Ridge Academy took a serious blow against Resurrection Christian on Tuesday, falling 79-39. Eagle Ridge Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-21.
Despite the defeat, Eagle Ridge Academy saw an underclassman step up: Aiden Wanrow scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds. Wanrow is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Pendleton, who scored 7 points.
Eagle Ridge Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Resurrection Christian pulled down 14.
Among those leading the charge was Marcus Phillips, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jacob Barker was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with 5 rebounds.
Eagle Ridge Academy has fallen quite a ways from their 21-6 record last season and are now at 1-2. As for Resurrection Christian, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Eagle Ridge Academy will head out on the road to face off against DSST: Green Valley Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. DSST: Green Valley Ranch presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eagle Ridge Academy in Colorado (DSST: Green Valley Ranch is ranked 32nd, while Eagle Ridge Academy is ranked 139th). As for Resurrection Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Severance at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Severance focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
