If the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs were riding high off their 79-55 takedown of the West Union Dragons last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lynchburg-Clay was outmatched by Washington on the road and fell 68-40. While losing is never fun, Lynchburg-Clay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 546th, while Washington is ranked 167th).
It was another big night for Garrett Rickman, who scored 18 points along with four steals for Washington. John Wall was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Lynchburg-Clay now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Washington, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lynchburg-Clay will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against North Adams at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Washington won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Unioto at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th. Hopefully Unioto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Thursday.
