The Chireno Owls will venture away from home to challenge the Cushing Bearkats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chireno is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Chireno will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Timpson, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Owls came out on top against the Bears by a score of 7-2 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Owls.
Kenley MOORE spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ireland LINGE was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Mason HOLLOWAY also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Cushing got the win against LEAD Academy on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Bearkats, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Miley Jackson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Jackson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Cushing got a massive performance out of Camryn Chandler, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Sabrina Deckard was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Cushing's record is now 19-15. As for Chireno, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Chireno skirted past Cushing 7-5 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Owls since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
