Shadow Mountain had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 9-14-1 to make it four. They lost 16-6 to the Thunderbird Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-5 on Monday.

Gavin Lieske was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Shadow Mountain: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-13-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jack Zauner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
As for Thunderbird, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The result was nothing new for Thunderbird, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
On Thunderbird's side, Matt Hornburg made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hornburg has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Thunderbird let Hunter Donathan and Austin Coates run wild. Donathan went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Coates got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Coates has posted since back in March. Caleb Kerr was another key player, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Coming up, Shadow Mountain will square off against North Canyon at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Thunderbird, they will challenge St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
