Volleyball Recap: Maria Lawrence Key Part of Team Effort in Jackrabbits Win

Kansas School for the Deaf barely beat Kansas City East Christian Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Jackrabbits put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday. The Jackrabbits not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 14, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

While Kansas School for the Deaf won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-23, 25-12.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kansas School for the Deaf to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maria Lawrence, who had 18 digs and six aces. The dominant performance also gave Lawrence a new career-high in kills (two).

Kansas School for the Deaf's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Kansas City East Christian Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Kansas School for the Deaf will head out on the road to challenge Arkansas School for the Deaf at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kansas City East Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
