The Weld Central Rebels came into Saturday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured a 37-32 W over Fort Morgan on Saturday. The win was just what Weld Central needed coming off of a 49-12 loss in their prior game.
Weld Central was led to victory by Isabel Weisenborn and Riley Phelps. Weisenborn scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks, while Phelps dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Weisenborn posted two or more blocks.
Weld Central's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. As for Fort Morgan, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weld Central will face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Sterling focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday. As for Fort Morgan, they will head out on the road to face off against the Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Mustangs in Colorado (the Mountain Lions are ranked 63rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 257th).
