Olathe South will challenge South on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. Olathe South are expected to win -- but not by much -- so they will need to come into the matchup prepared for a fight.
Olathe South fought the good fight in their overtime match last week but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap, as they fell 21-27 to Shawnee Mission Northwest. Olathe South got a solid performance out of sophomore Reed Smith, who accumulated 251 passing yards and punched in 1 rushing TD; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. Near the top of the highlight reel was Smith's 84-yard TD bomb to AJ Shields in the fourth quarter.
South won against West two weeks ago with 27 points, and South decided to stick to that point total again. South made easy work of Lansing and carried off a 27-0 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point South had established a 20-0 advantage.
South's win lifted them to 3-0 while Olathe South's defeat dropped them down to 2-1. We'll see if South's success rolls on or if Olathe South are able to steal their positive momentum.
