The Bradenton Christian Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Westminster Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bradenton Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They breezed by Out-of-Door Academy on the road to the tune of 35-7. Bradenton Christian had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year.
Bradenton Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Baker, who picked up 115 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Bradenton Christian also got a significant boost from Colton Dempsey, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 123 yards.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last match, Westminster Academy made sure to put some points up on the board against SmartEn Sports Academy on Friday. Westminster Academy blew past SmartEn Sports Academy 41-0 at home. Given Westminster Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 265th, while SmartEn Sports Academy is ranked 561st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anthony Barbar went supernova for Westminster Academy, throwing for 356 yards and five touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes. Evan Tempro did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 72 receiving yards.
Bradenton Christian's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.8 points per game. As for Westminster Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Bradenton Christian might still be hurting after the 34-10 loss they got from Westminster Academy in their previous matchup back in September. Can Bradenton Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
