Basketball Recap: Holdrege Piles Up the Points Against Valentine

Holdrege entered their tilt with Valentine on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They breezed by Valentine to the tune of 84-55. The Dusters have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 20 points or more this season.

Holdrege's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Baron Medina, who went 9 for 12 on his way to 24 points in addition to eight assists and six boards. With that strong performance, Medina is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Garret Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine boards.

Despite the defeat, Valentine had strong showings from Andon Olson, who went 10 of 19 on his way to 25 points, and Trystan Beebout, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Olson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played.

Holdrege is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.3 points per game. As for Valentine, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Holdrege will square off against Adams Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Adams Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season. As for Valentine, they will challenge Cody-Kilgore at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
