Kylie Grover was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Alina Weaver and Gianna Perillo did some serious damage despite the final result: Weaver went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Perillo went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Emmaus came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Bears.
Mari Eiswerth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, Sadie Haefeli was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Avery DeFanti was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Emmaus hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 14 consecutive matches.
Emmaus' win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.3 runs this season. As for Nazareth Area, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 14-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Nazareth Area hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Emmaus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
