Basketball Recap: Paislee Ticer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central over Wilson

Central lost against Wilson back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Central Wildcats took a 59-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilson Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Warriors are ranked 119th).

Central lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Paislee Ticer, who posted nine points. The dominant performance also gave Ticer a new career-high in assists (four). Mileigh Tucker was another key player, putting up ten points.

Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Wilson, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Central Wildcats take on the Brooks Lions at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Central is facing Brooks at the right time seeing as Brooks is stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Wilson, they will head out to face off against Hatton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Wilson will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: Hatton will have lost five straight heading into Monday's contest.
