Softball Recap: Genoa-Kingston Starts off Right with Win over Indian Creek

Genoa-Kingston had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Indian Creek Timberwolves on Tuesday as the Genoa-Kingston Cogs made off with a 13-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cogs in their matchups with the Timberwolves: they've now won six in a row.

Lily Provost made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Provost was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Genoa-Kingston got a massive performance out of Elizabeth Davis, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Arielle Rich was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

Genoa-Kingston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indian Creek only posted a batting average of .100.

Looking ahead, Genoa-Kingston will face off against Riverdale at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Indian Creek, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Plano at 6:30 p.m.
