Meanwhile, Paul W. Bryant had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Central 16-4 on Thursday. With that victory, the Stampede brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Kellen Shivetts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Paul W. Bryant got a massive performance out of Zion Perkins, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Perkins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aiden Storey, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Pinson Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Paul W. Bryant, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pinson Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Paul W. Bryant struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
