Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Eagle Mountain, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Lake Worth a 20-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Knights have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ashlyn Eggleton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zoe Hawthorne, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Eagle Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Bridgeport's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Eagle Mountain, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-10-1 record.
