The McLeod Longhorns were the 46-35 winner over the Hawkins Hawks when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. McLeod took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hawkins on Tuesday. McLeod has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Hawkins' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Derek Hollman, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. Hollman is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 13 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Boston Conner, who scored ten points along with six steals.
McLeod's defeat dropped their record down to 24-2. As for Hawkins, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 18-1.
McLeod will look to defend their home court on Friday against Ore City at 7:30 p.m. Ore City is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Hawkins, they will head out on the road to face off against Harleton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Harleton is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
