The Kelso Hilanders put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 69-54 victory over Bethel. Given Kelso's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Bethel is ranked 206th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bethel lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kemetrius Babbs, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and six blocks. The match was Babbs' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reginald Carr, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Kelso pushed their record up to 5-0 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.3 points per game. As for Bethel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
Kelso's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Emerald Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on December 21st. Bethel will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
