The Lewis County Minutemen put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 67-53 win over Lincoln. Given Lewis County's advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Lincoln is ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bryn Hunt continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Payten Goodwin, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Despite the loss, Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Ashlyn Riley, who scored 33 points along with five rebounds. Riley scored a full 62.3% of Lincoln's points, the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Riley Pearlman was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Lewis County's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Lewis County will head out on the road to face off against Robert C. Byrd at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Robert C. Byrd has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests. As for Lincoln, they will square off against Petersburg at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Petersburg will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
