Softball Recap: Gulf Coast Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Gulf Coast waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Lely Trojans. Considering the Sharks have won four matches by more than 11 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Kadi Hodgson, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Emma Caetano, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Gulf Coast was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in six consecutive games.

Gulf Coast pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lely, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Gulf Coast will venture away from home to challenge Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gulf Coast's pitchers better be ready for this one: Riverdale has averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Lely, they will square off against Mason Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
