Ramon Deleon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Royal Palm Beach is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise. Deleon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Robert Gonzalez, who scored a run and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Royal Palm Beach: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise. Miguelangel Guzman was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Atlantic). Everything went their way against Glades Day on Friday as Atlantic made off with a 24-13 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Like Royal Palm Beach, Atlantic also got a great game from a two-way player: Thomas Krolikowski. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Krolikowski a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, Michael Bird and Rouss Doverno did most of the damage at the plate: Bird scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances, while Doverno scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Capizola, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI.
Atlantic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .620. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Royal Palm Beach's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Atlantic, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Royal Palm Beach has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Atlantic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Royal Palm Beach's way against Atlantic in their previous meeting back in February, as Royal Palm Beach made off with a 10-0 victory. Does Royal Palm Beach have another victory up their sleeve, or will Atlantic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
