Southwest is a perfect 3-0 against Jay since February of 2025 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Dragons will challenge the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Southwest is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
Southwest had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt McCollum on Tuesday. The Dragons were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Cowboys. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Payton Idrogo-Cortez spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sy'Rae Espinoza was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Martinez Meah, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Southwest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Jay came up short against McCollum on Friday and fell 4-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Cowboys: they've now lost four in a row.
Jay saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Klarissa Serrano, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Jay's loss dropped their record down to 6-11-1. As for Southwest, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
Jay's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Southwest has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. It's a different story for Jay, though, as they've only averaged .363. Will they be able to contain Southwest's hitters?
Everything went Southwest's way against Jay in their previous meeting back in February, as Southwest made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
