Mercersburg Academy is 1-6 against the Cougars since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Mercersburg Academy Blue Storm will head out on the road to face off against the Kiski School Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Mercersburg Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 411 points over their last six games.
A well-balanced attack led Mercersburg Academy over the Lions in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mercersburg Academy blew the Lions out of the water with a 70-38 final score. Given Mercersburg Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked eighth in Pennsylvania, while the Lions are ranked 241st in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-36, which was the final score in Kiski School's tilt against the last Sunday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Kiski School has scored all season.
Mercersburg Academy pushed their record up to 15-6 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points per game. As for Kiski School, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Mercersburg Academy beat the Cougars 70-63 when the teams last played back in January of 2020. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mercersburg Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
