The Westside Seminoles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 69-19 defeat at the hands of Baldwin. Westside was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-13.
Westside's loss came despite strong showings from Destiny Spencer and Zylea Dinkins. Spencer scored seven points along with ten rebounds, while Dinkins scored no points. That was a full 36.8% of Westside's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Westside struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Baldwin racked up 17 assists.
Baldwin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kassidy Neal, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Neal is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last four games she's played. Madison Ruff was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six steals.
Westside has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Baldwin, the win was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.
Westside will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Baldwin, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. West Laurens will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Braves are ranked 17th).
