Bisbee is 0-10 against Willcox since April of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Pumas will take on the Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. Bisbee has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times Bisbee and Tombstone have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Pumas lost 19-2 to the Yellow Jackets. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Pumas couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Willcox's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Miami a 15-0 shutout. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 contests by six runs or more this season.
Hattie Macumber was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Gloria Encinas was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Payton Fuentes, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Willcox was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miami only posted a batting average of .000.
Willcox has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bisbee, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Bisbee might still be hurting after the 18-2 loss they got from Willcox in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Pumas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
