The Eastern Wayne Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Rosewood Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Eastern Wayne's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Rosewood's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Eastern Wayne is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Douglas Byrd get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Mallory Reed made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Eastern Wayne let Avery Vick and Natalia Pierce run wild. Vick went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Pierce went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave Pierce a new career-high. Madaline Womack also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Eastern Wayne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rosewood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Hunt on Friday.
Hunt's batters probably weren't too happy with McCandless St John, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up zero walks).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hayley Bedford, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run. Another player making a difference was Natalie Blake, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
The victory got Eastern Wayne back to even at 3-3. As for Rosewood, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Rosewood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Eastern Wayne has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. It's a different story for Rosewood, though, as they've only averaged .363. Will they be able to contain Eastern Wayne's hitters?
Eastern Wayne suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Rosewood when the teams last played on March 5th. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
